JakeGoldman.net was started in 2004 – only back then it was JakeGoldman.com. The “.com” domain was sold in 2008 for a respectable sum of money through a Network Solutions transaction. The buyer then proceeded to do nothing with it. As of the date this is being written (November 2009), it still points to this website. Go figure.
The previous iteration of the site ran on the LifeType blogging platform: a promising platform in 2004 that has failed to keep up with the likes of my latest platform of choice, WordPress. The 2004-2009 “generation” was overwhelmingly focused on personal musings, and featured titillating short reviews of everything from a vacuum cleaner, to the first season of 24, to an elliptical machine. It had more than a few political observations, and featured cutting edge technology such as a “chat box.”

During Thanksgiving weekend, 2009 the site was archived and replaced with the current WordPress-powered iteration. The new site better aggregates my public persona on the web, and its content is more focused on my professional career.
I was lucky to find a few hours to do any of this, so there was no chance I was going to have time to redesign my site. I was lucky to happen upon the beautiful Mystique theme by Digital Nature, a 95% solution taken to 99% with a few CSS customizations and plug-ins.
